Main Street Historic Walk - Site 26 - Margaret River and Districts Historical Society

Shop built in 1936 for Killerby's of Busselton to supply the district with general groceries, farm produce and equipment. First managed by L. Gibson and in 1940 W.C. Smith bought the site and operated it with his family under the name of W.C. Smith & Sons. In 1977/8 the site was purchased by Ken Aitken of Busselton as an electrical shop managed by Bob Fletcher.

It was then leased by Don Bennett as a toy shop before it was purchased by the then next door hotel owner Mark and Kate Hohnen's in 1984, demolishing the building and adding the present bottleshop. Since then the site was owned by Peta Woolems up to 2005. Settlers Holdings and partners owned the site up to 2021 when it was bought by the Heytesbury Group.

The old school, the group settlement house, the blacksmith workshop, and many other buildings with household items, tools and machinery offer an insight into the history of early life in the district and the families that once lived and worked the land.
