This was vacant land until Sunny West Stores in 1953 combined with site no 45 built their new store. In 1985 both lots were purchased by Sunny West's parent company Wesfarmers and in 1985 it was known as Farmers Hardware. In 1990 Archie Martins operated here for some time until 2003 when Coles purchased the whole area and built their supermarket plus present small shops in front like Bob's Shoe Shop, Brumby's Bakery and Glitterati jeweler shop.If you would like to learn more about the local history of Margaret River, visit The Old Settlement Museum down the river.
The old school, the group settlement house, the blacksmith workshop, and many other buildings with household items, tools and machinery offer an insight into the history of early life in the district and the families that once lived and worked the land.
