Main Street Historic Walk – Site 56

This building was constructed in 1928 as a garage and residence for Bob and Elsie Wise and family. The Wise family also ran a charabanc service from Busselton to Augusta. The garage continued up to the 1960's when a newer garage was built on site No 50. This site became unused. In the 1980's the building was used as a second hand shop operated by Bill Oswald till 1984 when the whole site was cleared and it is now the Settlers Tavern car park.

The old school, the group settlement house, the blacksmith workshop, and many other buildings with household items, tools and machinery offer an insight into the history of early life in the district and the families that once lived and worked the land.
